Overview

Penlyne ("we," "us," or "our") is a Chrome extension that helps you generate LinkedIn content using artificial intelligence. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data.

Data We Collect

  • Usage counters: We track the number of generations per day for rate limiting purposes. This data is stored locally in your browser and on our server as an anonymous count tied to your installation ID.
  • License keys: If you purchase a Pro subscription, we store your license key in hashed form to verify your subscription status.
  • Email address: Your email is collected through Stripe during checkout only if you upgrade to Pro. We use it solely for transactional communication (receipts, license delivery).

Data We Do Not Collect

  • Your LinkedIn content: We do not store, log, or retain the content you generate. Prompts are sent directly to the AI API and responses are returned to your browser. Nothing is saved on our servers.
  • Your LinkedIn credentials: We never access your LinkedIn account, cookies, or session tokens.
  • Browsing data: We do not track which pages you visit or your browsing behavior beyond the extension itself.
  • Third-party analytics: We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking scripts.

AI Processing

Content generation is powered by Anthropic's Claude API. When you generate content, your prompt is sent to Anthropic's servers for processing and the response is returned directly to your browser. Anthropic's data handling practices are covered by their privacy policy. Anthropic does not use API inputs or outputs to train their models.

Data Security

License keys are stored in hashed form using industry-standard cryptographic hashing. All communication between the extension and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. We do not store sensitive personal information beyond what is described above.

GDPR Compliance

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the data we hold about you
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Request data portability

Data Retention

Usage counters are reset daily. License key hashes are retained for as long as your subscription is active and deleted within 30 days of subscription cancellation. Email addresses are retained for transactional purposes and deleted upon request.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, by providing notice through the extension.
